What you will need ?

  • Designs / Images

  • Cocoa Butter printable transfer sheets (chocolate transfer sheets)

  • Edible Printer (The inks are safe to heat up with the wax ) I'm not sure if a regular printer will work , stay tuned for more tests)

  • Cricut / Cutting machine , craft knife or scissor (a lot quicker and easier with a cutting machine)

  • Silicone Mould with a flat surface or cavity mould with flat bottoms

Here some moulds that would work (but you can use any mould with a flat bottom) You many need a cutting machine for the more irregular shapes )

  • Candle / Wax melt wax

  • Fragrance oil

The Design

Measure your mould /mould cavity where you want the image to go.

Utilize those measurements to design your project. You may also employ a template that can be printed and then cut to the appropriate size for transferring.

When creating products for personal use, any image may be used. However, when producing items for sale, it is important to utilize commercially licensed images and designs.

Chocolate transfer sheets

These work well for transferring onto wax, and once applied, they are quite durable. Just ensure that you allow the wax to fully set, otherwise certain parts of the image may not transfer properly.

Try get the sheets that are Titanium dioxide free its not a mass drama if they aren't.

They print on the edible printer just like a normal print , they are a frosted glass texture so using uncoloured wax works best.

Another option is to purchase pre-printed transfer sheets by searching for chocolate transfer sheets on Google.

The transfers are also composed of cocoa butter, which is suitable for blending with wax.

Edible Printer

Our choice of an edible printer is due to its effective transfer printing capabilities and the use of food-grade ink.

Silicone Moulds

Plenty of affordable and excellent moulds are available online for this method. They must have completely flat top surfaces, which will serve as the bottom when pouring. Therefore, a standard bar mould is not suitable due to its grooved front surface, unless you cut out individual blocks.

Before printing your design you need to mirror it . (This is so the image orientation is correct when its flipped downwards ) This is only really an issue if you have text . If its just an image or pattern just remember it will be reverse.

To cut your designs using a Cricut or other cutting machine, start by importing your images or patterns into the cutting software. If you have a pattern, print it out first and then use the cutting machine to cut out the correct sizes and shapes of your design. For designs without a pattern, size your artwork correctly and then send it to your cutting machine. Cricut offers a print then cut feature that is especially useful for designs without patterns.

To cut, use an art blade or scissors. Draw your measurements on the shiny side of the transfer sheet. Carefully cut out your designs, but be cautious with the cocoa butter side as it is sensitive to heat; excessive handling may damage your design.

Ensure that the transfer is placed flat in the mould with the shiny side facing down. It should fit snugly without bending or extending beyond the edges, as this could cause the transfer to lift and result in an uneven surface.

To achieve the best results, pour the wax at the recommended pouring temperature specified for your wax brand, especially when using pillar and wax melt waxes. If you wish to incorporate colours and glitter into your mel
